Title:
Most K-12 bonds pass by a landslide, then stymied by State budget crisis
How will the economic stimulus package benefit our k-12 schools?
Panel to include:
- Joe Dixon, Assistant Superintendent – Santa Ana Unified School District
- Paul Reed, Business Superintendent – Newport Mesa Unified School District
- Moderator: Dale Frisby, VP, CW Driver
Late 2008 brought good news in landslide bond passages for our young students. Then before we could celebrate, California experienced the pain of our ever increasing budget crisis. Can the federal stimulus package and the California state budget recently adopted help deliver the much needed construction for our young students?
Federal Economic Stimulus for K-12 Schools
California could be prepared to allocate these resources in a timely and efficient manner. We believe that California will receive billions of dollars that would help special education students, Title I schools, school construction and provide some relief for all the cuts made by local school districts.
Moderated by Dale Frisby, VP CW Driver, we have invited Joe Dixon, Assistant Superintendent for Santa Ana Unified School District, and Paul Reed, Deputy Superintendent with Newport Mesa Unified School District to share their thoughts on:
- What does this mean to our local school districts?
- How soon will projects be awarded?
- What delivery method will school districts choose?
- Will projects have LEED requirements?
- What kind of experience should a consultant expect to have?
- What type of projects will be awarded first?
