- What is the BDA/OC Aloha Charity Golf Invitational "Helicopter Ball Drop" contest? The Helicopter Ball Drop is a contest Opportunity Drawing fundraiser, where one hundred percent (100%) of the proceeds from the drawing support Olive Crest Homes for Abused and Abandoned Children
and Habitat for Humanity Orange County chapter.
- Tickets are $10 (1), $25 (3) and $75 (10), based on the number purchased. Tickets are non-transferable. Only one eligible person may be entered in the drawing per ticket sold. If the name of more than one person is submitted with a ticket purchase and that ticket is selected as a winning ticket, then the person named first will be deemed the holder of record of that ticket and declared the winner.
- How do I purchase Opportunity Drawing tickets? To purchase tickets and enter:

- What is the prize?
The Grand Prize is $2,500 or 50% of the total monies collected.
- Do you accept applications by e-mail or sell tickets on the Internet?
No. California law and Penal Code prohibit Internet sales of charitable raffle
- Will the drawing be supervised?
Yes, by the BDA/OC board and Golf Committee and all attendees at the semi-public Golf Tournament on September 18th. Only staff and golf course personnel will be allowed to organize and run the contest onsite.
- How many Opportunity Drawing tickets can I buy?
You may buy as many tickets as you like, up to 550 or the balance of those tickets being unsold.
- How many Opportunity Drawing tickets will be sold?
Only 550 have been printed to-date, which affords excellent chances of winning due to the fixed number of tickets sold. Purchasing more than one ticket increases the chances of winning.
- Who benefits from this Opportunity Drawing?
Olive Crest Homes for Abused and Abandoned Children
and Habitat for Humanity. All funds are applied to this event and audits of the corporation’s books are accomplished per California legal requirements.
- When does the Opportunity Drawing start and when does it end?
The Opportunity Drawing ticket sales will begin on May 12th at the BDA/OC luncheon event and will continue as long as there are unsold tickets. Ticket requests via mail must be received prior to August 31st.
- When will the prize drawing be held?
The Grand Prize Drawing will be held on Friday, September 18th during the 2nd Annual Aloha Charity Golf Invitational at Tijeras Creek Golf Course in Rancho Santa Margarita.
- Do I have to be present to win?
No.
- How will the winner be notified?
The winner will be notified by telephone, based on the contact information provided on the Entry Form or Ticket. Please ensure that both your name and number are legible.
- Who may buy an Opportunity Drawing ticket?
Any legal resident of the United States, 18 years of age or older may obtain a ticket, including Board and Committee members and their households, unless they actually physically draw the winning ticket. All federal, state, local laws and regulations apply. This drawing is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Proof of eligibility may be required from the prizewinner by BDA/OC at the time the award is presented.
- Are BDA/OC Ball Drop Opportunity Drawing tickets tax-deductible?
The BDA/OC does not give tax advice, please check with your tax advisor. The IRS states that Raffles, lotteries or similar drawings for valuable prizes are not gifts, and consequently do not qualify as deductible charitable contributions. Also raffles are similar to games of chance and are not deductible, in IRS Publ. 526.
- Is the Opportunity Drawing prize considered income?
Yes. The value of the prize is considered taxable income when the winnings exceed $600 in value. Winner is responsible for any and all federal, state and local taxes associated with the Grand Prize. Winner will be responsible for any or all delivery fees and/or for retrieval of the Grand Prize. In addition, the prize winner will be required to submit IRS Forms W-2G (gambling winnings) and W-9 in order to be awarded the prize.

- Accountability: This Opportunity Drawing shall be governed by the law of the State of California, and the Official Rules are subject to change at any time without notice. BDA/OC shall make all decisions related to the Opportunity Drawing at its sole discretion. By participating, you agree to be bound by this Official Rules and the decisions of BDA/OC and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Opportunity Drawing operation or Official Rules. By participating, you agree to release and hold BDA/OC Board of Directors or Board Members harmless from any or all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind in connection with the Opportunity Drawing including from your winning or use of any prize. BDA/OC makes no representation, expressed or implied, about the Opportunity Drawing or any prize awarded.
